Elizabeth Diana Percy, Duchess of Northumberland (20 January 1922 – 19 September 2012), was born Lady Elizabeth Diana Montagu Douglas Scott.

Biography

Her parents were Walter Montagu Douglas Scott, 8th Duke of Buccleuch, and his wife Mary. Her paternal aunt was Princess Alice, Duchess of Gloucester.[1]

She served with the Civil Nursing Reserve and the Women's Royal Naval Service (WRNS) during World War II, and saw action aboard the Mauretania, before being posted to Australia.[1][2]

She married Hugh Percy, 10th Duke of Northumberland on 12 June 1946, whereupon she became the Duchess of Northumberland, and had seven children:

After the death of her husband in 1988, she took on the role of Honorary Colonel of the Royal Northumberland Fusiliers.[3]

She died on 19 September 2012. Her funeral took place at the Old Church of St. Peter and St. Paul, Albury Park, Guildford, Surrey, on 1 October 2012. Among those present were The Duke and Duchess of Gloucester.[4]
