Elizabeth Dee

Elizabeth Dee is an American founder of Elizabeth Dee Gallery, X Initiative and Independent Art Fair, in New York City.[1] The gallery has exhibited artists Alex Bag,[2] Mark Barrow,[3] Eric Baudelaire,[4] Miriam Cahn (United States debut),[5] Philippe Decrauzat,[6] Derek Jarman,[7] Harry Dodge and Stanya Kahn (debut),[8] Jeff Keen (debut),[9] Miranda Lichtenstein,[10] Virgil Marti,[11] Ryan McNamara (debut),[12] Josephine Meckseper (debut),[13] Carl Ostendarp,[14] Adrian Piper,[15] Renaud Regnery,[16] Meredyth Sparks (debut),[17] and Ryan Trecartin (debut),[18] amongst many others. Elizabeth Dee has co-produced ten movies by Ryan Trecartin including I-Be AREA (2007) and the seven video cycle Any Ever (2007-2010) which includes: Trill-ogy Comp (2009): Sibling Topics (section a), K-CoreaINC.K (section a), P.opular S.ky (section ish), Re'Search Wait'S (2009-2010): Temp Stop (Re'Search Wait'S), Roamie View: History Enhancement (Re'Search Wait'S), The Re'Search (Re'Search Wait'S) and Ready (Re'Search Wait'S).[19] She has also co-published monographic publications on Josephine Meckseper (Sternberg Press),[20] Ryan Trecartin (Dee/Rizzoli Skira)[21] and Meredyth Sparks (Monografik Editions) and is the co-editor of the X Initiative Yearbook (Mousse Publishing, Milan).[22] Elizabeth Dee is the founder of X-Initiative, a nonprofit consortium of the global art community to present exhibitions and programming responding to the major philosophical and economic shifts in contemporary art.[23] X Initiative took place in 2009-2010 at the former Dia Center for the Arts in New York. She is the co-founder of Independent, a hybrid collective exhibition forum highlighting international galleries and non-profit spaces which takes place annually.[24]
