Eat Real Festival

The Eat Real Festival is an annual, two-day food festival that takes place in Oakland, California. The festival focuses on food and drinks produced locally, sustainably and organically. The first festival was held in 2009.[1] The fourth festival took place at Jack London Square. Eat Real Festival has an opening night "Meatopia" party focusing on locally made meat-based dishes, the party requires paid tickets and is a benefit.[2] The festival itself is free, and food costs $5 or less to purchase.[3] An estimated 150,000 people attend it.[2] In 2011, the Eat Real Festival was voted the best annual event in the readers' poll for the Best of the Bay held by the East Bay Express.[4]
