Eastern Wayne High School

Eastern Wayne High School (EWHS) is a public high school located in Goldsboro, Wayne County, North Carolina, that opened in 1969.[1] In 2010, it was awarded the National Award for School Lunch as the best high school lunch in America. It is classified as a 3-A school with enrollment estimated at 1100 students. The school mascot is the Warrior, and its school colors are navy blue and gold. The school recently received a Silver Medal designation in U.S. News & World Report’s “America’s Best High Schools” rankings,[2] and had a graduation rate of 91.1%.[3]

Athletics

Eastern Wayne is a 3-A school in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA). Sports offered include: Cross Country, Football, Golf, Soccer, Tennis, Women's Volleyball, Basketball, Swimming, Wrestling, Baseball, Softball, Track & Field, & Cheerleading. Former, EWHS include NFL athletes Manny Lawson, and Jimmy Graham. Spergeon Thompson Jr. its first African American student to be awarded a full scholarship in Football by WSSU in 1976.

Extracurricular activities and clubs

EWHS has a variety of student-lead organizations including FFA, FBLA, FCS, TSA, HOSA, Air Force JROTC, Math Club, Science Club, Key Club, National Honor Society, National Art Honor Society, National Theatre Arts Honor Society, Ambassadors, SADD, Career/Technical Education Honor Society, and Student Government.
