The Eastern Mediterranean

The Eastern Mediterranean denotes the countries geographically to the east of the Mediterranean Sea (Levantine Seabasin). This is commonly interpreted in two ways; the region of Syria plus the island of Cyprus (also known as the Levant), and Turkey, which limits the definition to Western Asia, or the Levant plus Greece, and Egypt, thereby including European and African components to the definition.

The eastern Mediterranean[1][2][3][4] populations share not only geographic position, but cuisine, certain customs, and a long intertwined history.
