David Vincent Leslie Ames (born 25 June 1989) is a British field hockey player.

He was a member of the England squad that finished fourth at the 2015 Men's EuroHockey Nations Championship and the Great Britain squad who finished fourth at the 2016 Men's Hockey Champions Trophy.[1] On 28 June 2016 Ames was named in the men's hockey squad who will represent Great Britain at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games.[2]

The midfielder represented Ireland 64 times from 2008 to 2013 before declaring to play for England and Great Britain.[3] After spending 2013 to 2015 ineligible for selection,[4] Ames made his full international debut for Great Britain on 14 May 2015 in a 1-1 draw against Argentina.[5]

Ames plays club hockey for Beeston Hockey Club in England, having previously played for Cookstown Hockey Club before moving to England in 2010.

He began playing hockey at Cookstown High School where he captained the 1st XI hockey team to their first and only All Ireland Schools (Boys) Hockey Championship in 2007.[6]
