An evening shot of Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall
The historical field where Tunku Abdul Rahman proclaimed that Malaya will achieve independence upon his return from London after signing the Independence Agreement with Lennox-Boyd on Feb 11, 1956. Some 100,000 came to witness the historic moment, and joyous shouts of Merdeka! (Independence!) were heard and a banner "Di bawah runtuhan Kota Melaka, kita dirikan Negara baru" (Within the ruins of the Fort of Malacca, we form a new nation).

The Dataran Pahlawan Malacca Megamall (Malay: Dataran Pahlawan Melaka Megamall) is a shopping mall in Banda Hilir, Malacca City, Malacca, Malaysia.[1][2]
