Cuthbertson High School

Cuthbertson High School is a moderately sized high school in Waxhaw, North Carolina. It was founded in 2009 under the administration of principal, Robert Jackson. The school was founded by pulling students from other area high schools including Parkwood High School, Marvin Ridge High School, and Weddington High School. Additional staff was hired on as the school building was nearing completion. Randy Boob and Kimberly Warr were soon hired as assistant principals.

Now Cuthbertson High School has graduated two Senior classes and the first class of students to attend Cuthbertson all four years will graduate in early 2013. In July 2012, Robert Jackson was promoted to Chief Communications Officer of Union County Public Schools. Kimberly Warr became head principal and Randy Boob, Lynette McCoy and Sarah Stott remained Vice Principals. As of September, 2016, the administration consists of Principal Dr. Kimberly Shroeder and Vice Principals Andy Brooks, Fermandi Dyson, and Jeffery Stout.

Education

Cuthbertson High School is a 9-12th grade public high school. It is part of the Union County Public school system. The school offers a wide range of classes even at the AP level. Cuthbertson High School is a school with a global outlook on education. The school offers several classes based on global affairs and more than half a dozen foreign languages including German, Spanish, French, Mandarin, and Tagalog.

Cuthbertson High School is a recognized Honor School of Excellence in North Carolina.

Extracurricular activities

Cuthbertson High School features a wide breadth of social, athletic and fine arts organizations. The Cuthbertson ensembles have experienced growth and visibility through adjudicated performances all the while achieving consistent superior ratings. At the high school level, the program has grown from its initial 30 members and now features two concert bands, the ‘Mighty Marching Cavalier’ marching band, jazz band, indoor percussion and winterguard units, and an innovative rock band. A large percentage of the band students participate in additional honor band clinics throughout the Southeastern states including Georgia, South Carolina, and our home state of North Carolina.

Athletics

Cuthbertson has a many Varsity and Junior Varsity Sports. Cuthbertsons men's soccer team won the 2A state championship in the 2012-2013 season

Football

Starting in 2009, Cuthbertson's first football season ended with a 1-10 record. In the 2014-2015 season, Cuthbertson made it all the way to the last round of the playoffs, losing to their rival, Weddington.
