Crystal Huff

Crystal Huff is a Boston-based feminist activist and convention organizer. She was born in New Hampshire, United States, and attended Tufts University.

Huff served as the convention chair of Arisia 2011, Relaxacon 2011, Readercon 23, Readercon 24, and Readercon 25. She also founded and co-chaired the first JOFcon.

Huff came to prominence in 2012 as the chair of Readercon and as co-author of the public statement released by the Readercon convention committee^[1] in response to issues of harassment at the convention. This event resulted in an overhaul of policies and procedures for the convention to report and address harassment, microaggressions, and other issues.

More recently, she has been heavily involved in bringing the 75th World Science Fiction Convention to Helsinki in 2017, and is serving as a co-chair of the convention. As an advocate for a more globally-inclusive Worldcon, Huff has spearheaded various initiatives, including coordinating translation of the instructions for voting on Worldcon site selection into a variety of languages.

In March 2015, Huff was appointed as the Executive Director of the Ada Initiative. In May 2015, the Ada Initiative announced that she was leaving this position.^[2]
