Cheemeni is a village in Kasaragod district in the state of Kerala, India. The name "Cheemeni" arose from the word "Sreemeni" which means that the body of sree.Nearest town is Cheruvathur. Cheemeni Vishnumurthy temple has lakhs of devotees visiting every year.[1]

Demographics

As of 2001 India census, Cheemeni had a population of 8032 with 3805 males and 4227 females.[1]

Education

Cheemeni has a College of Applied Science offering courses in Computer Science, Commerce and Electronics.[2] Cheemeni also has a government higher secondary school of great reputation.[3]

Cyberpark

The government has started the work on an IT park in Cheemeni. The IT park is set by a government agency called Cyberpark. A building of 15 million sq.feet will be created for the project.The project is made on an estimated cost of 400 million Indian rupees. 100 acres of land has been earmarked for the project.[4]

Transportation

Local roads have access to NH.66 which connects to Mangalore in the north and Calicut in the south. The nearest railway station is Cheruvathur on Mangalore-Palakkad line. There are airports at Mangalore and Calicut.
