Biography

Barajas was born in San Juan Capistrano, California and resides in Los Angeles, California. She started singing at an early age of 7 with her mother at local Mariachi music events. But in her early teen years she discovered Hip Hop and female artist such as TLC and Missy Elliot and that inspired her to pursue a career in Hip Hop.

Cecy B completed five mixtapes/albums between 2005–2015 and was featured on various upcoming LA artist projects. She started with an independent label in 2004 and completed a double English/Spanish Hip Hop CD titled "Latinalicious", but the album was never released due to the label closing down.

Cecy B continued in the music industry while living in Los Angeles, where she wrote and sang hooks for other upcoming LA artists as "a foot in the door" approach and strived to perform with these artists whenever possible.

In 2006 Cecy B stayed focused on putting out her own music, Cecy was then signed to another independent label and released an album titled "Street Sexy", the Album had some minor radio play and minor international success with songs licensed such as "Swing Batta" and featured on Degrassi follow up teen show "The Best Years".[1]

Discouraged with the music industry and not having the proper team to back her up, plus financially struggling in Los Angeles and the unfortunate news that her mom was diagnosed with breast cancer that year as well, she gave up on music and moved back to Orange County. Between late 2007-2009, she married and focused on being a housewife. After sometime her mother fortunately recovered as a breast cancer survivor and Cecy B went on to release a personal home studio album titled "Truth, Love Change" late 2009.

She remained distant from the music industry from 2009–2012. After filing for a divorce in 2012, she moved back to Los Angeles to create music full-time. She met music executive Dalexis Tamayo from Get Right Management[2] and he offered her a management deal and moved her to Miami to work out of Tone-Masters studio to try to find a commercialized sound with in house producer -Architracks.

In 2013, Cecy B went on to do a mixtape titled "Hustle in Heels" and also launched her brand of "Hustle in Heels" merchandise online store.[3] That year Cecy B also went on to create a song titled "Mexico" featuring Lil Rob, which would grow to become a new era Mexican Hip Hop Anthem, reaching over million views on YouTube[4] and was also featured on MTV.[5]

Cecy B gained attention from various indie labels in Miami for being different with her rap skills and low tone rapping voice. After various independent label offers, Cecy decided to work independently with her team -G.R.E.A.T. Music Group and released two singles "All I Do Is Werk" which she won a contest for best upcoming artist radio song backed up by radio DJ personalities The Baka Boyz.[6] The song received airplay and lead to her meeting Cypress Hill lead singer –B-Real, later that year they collaborated on her third single titled "Bout That".[7]

In 2013-2014, Cecy B started opening up for various artist such as Kid Ink, Baby Bash at University of Phoenix stadium[8] and various international music festivals in Canada[9] and Mexico . In 2015 she released her latest studio album titled "The Connect" which is a mix of Hip Hop and R&B and features two songs with B-Real of Cypress Hill, Compton Menace, Lil Rob, Wrekonize of Strange Music and various upcoming artist.[10] Cecy continues to promote her online store (Cecybworld.com),[11] album, tour and write songs for commercial licensing.
