Brian Taylor (born 1964) is an American financial executive. He is the Founder and CEO of Pine River Capital Management LP.[1] Taylor has previously held positions at EBF & Associates.[2]

Early Life and Education

Brian Taylor received a BS in Accounting summa cum laude from Millikin University in 1986.[3] He then completed his MBA with a concentration in Finance and a specialization in Statistics from the University of Chicago in 1988.[4]

Career

Taylor’s career began at EBF & Associates in 1988 where he was a trader before being named head of the convertible arbitrage group in 1994, and Partner in 1997.[2] During his time at EBF, Taylor worked with Aaron Yeary and others, who later joined him at Pine River.[5] In 2002, Taylor left the company to start his global relative value hedge fund, Pine River Capital Management with a $5.3 million initial investment.[6][7][8] The firm has grown to over $15 billion in assets under management and employs 450 people globally, with nine offices.[9][10][11] Taylor has helped to build a Pine River presence in mainland China that focuses on deep-dive research on China’s on-shore markets.[12] Under Taylor’s guidance, the firm was recognized by Institutional Investor as Relative Value Hedge Fund Manager of the Year in 2012 and 2013.[13] [14] He is currently CEO of Pine River and Chairman of Two Harbors Investment Corporation.[15] Taylor also serves on the Minneapolis Institute of Arts Board of Trustees.[16]
