Beyond Darkness (Italian: La Casa 5, also known as Horror House II) is a 1990 Italian horror film directed by Claudio Fragasso.[1] It was written by Fragasso and screenwriter and wife Rossella Drudi and produced by Joe D'Amato. The La Casa films (III, IV and V) in Italy were all marketed as sequels of a sort to the American films The Evil Dead and Evil Dead II, which were released in Italy as La Casa and La Casa 2 respectively.

Beyond Darkness is a standard Italian horror film of the "haunted house" subgenre (reminiscent of The Amityville Horror), and was distributed very poorly. It has always been a difficult film to find on DVD.

Synopsis

A priest and his family move into a new house, without knowing that it was built over the place where twenty witches were burnt at the stake. Soon the terror begins, with the house terrorizing its inhabitants with the elements that lie within the construction, for example; a possessed radio and a flying cleaver.

Release

It was released to video by Imperial Entertainment in 1992. Scream Factory released the film for the first time in North America on Blu-ray disc as a double feature with George Eastman's 1989 horror film, Metamorphosis, on August 25, 2015.
