Between the Heart and the Synapse (2005) is the first album from Boston, Massachusetts based band The Receiving End of Sirens. Between The Heart... is a concept album, due to lyrical and musical repetition in an effort to unify the body of work as a whole (though not to suggest plot). The album had singles and videos of the songs "Planning A Prison Break" and "This Armistice". Their debut single received a moderate amount of airplay on MTVU and Fuse.

The album received unanimous critical acclaim and has gone on to be recognized as one of the best albums of the decade by various music magazines and publications. In late 2010, a double LP of the album was released that includes a brand new song and live videos from Skatefest' that same year.
