Ayesha Lee is a fictional character in the BBC soap opera Doctors, played by Laura Rollins. Ayesha was introduced as a Practice Nurse at The Mill. She made her first appearance on 30 September 2014.

Storylines

Ayesha replaced Mandy Marquez (Danielle Henry) as Practice Nurse at The Mill. When Sid Vere (Ashley Rice) joined the practice she was immediately attracted to him and before long they were dating. However, the relationship did not last. Her other storylines involve having to give up her sister Sierra, dealing with her mother's alcoholism, a dodgy relationship with a married man (Aaron Fontaine) and most currently, supporting her housemate and colleague Emma Reid (Dido Miles) through her grief of losing her lover Howard Bellamy (Ian Kelsey), being subjected to racism and beginning a relationship with 'Beboxalula' fitness instructor Seb, whom she finds boring. Most recently, she has had to deal with a one-sided crush on newcomer PC Tyler Green (David Atkins) part. [1]

Casting

On 19 July 2014, it was reported by Digital Spy that Laura Rollins had joined the cast as new regular Ayesha Lee. Rollins revealed: "Ayesha is the new practice nurse and she arrives with a bang. It's going to be very dramatic. What's very nice about Ayesha is that we get an insight into her extended family, which doesn't always happen on Doctors. There are a lot of storylines with my on-screen mum and little sister, and there are other members of the family coming in soon. Ayesha's family all have their own emotional baggage, which will get thrust onto The Mill. It's really exciting stuff and there's some quite harrowing, high-stakes stories happening."[2]
