Al-Muqawwim ibn Abdulmuttalib

Al-Muqawwim ibn Abdulmuttalib was an uncle of the Islamic prophet Muhammad.

His original name is said to have been Abdulkaaba. He was the son of Abdulmuttalib ibn Hashim and of Hala bint Wuhayb. Hence he was a full-brother to Hamza, Safiya and Hajl.[1][2]

He married Qilaba bint Amr, by whom he had three daughters.

  1. Hind, who married Bashir ibn Amr from the Najjar clan of the Khazraj tribe in Medina, and had two sons.
  2. Arwa, who married al-Harith ibn Yaamar, an ally of Abbas from the Hawazin tribe, and had one son.
  3. Umm Amr, who married Masud ibn Muattib from the Thaqif tribe, and had one son. Later she married Abu Sufyan ibn al-Harith, by whom she had one daughter.[3]

Al-Muqawwim left no male-line descendants.[2]
