808 (documentary)

808 is a documentary film about the Roland TR-808 Rhythm Composer, one of the first programmable drum machines that had a significant effect on 1980s hip hop and pop music. It is co-produced by Arthur Baker, who claims the TR-808 is "the rock guitar of hip hop" and notes that 808 is still being used by contemporary pop artists such as Diplo, Kanye West and Madonna. It debuted at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival in March 2015.^[1] The film features appearances from fifty artists who have used the TR-808.^[2]
