253 Provost Company Royal Military Police, often shortened to 253 Pro Coy RMP, is an Army Reserve unit based in Tulse Hill, London. The company previously had detachments at Southampton and Brighton which resubordinated to 163 Pro Coy RMP (V) in 1993. The company regained the Southampton detachment in 2005 but this was closed in 2014.

In recent years personnel from 253 Provost Company have undertaken a number of operational tours in Iraq, Afghanistan and Cyprus. Individuals from 253 Provost Company have also deployed in Close Protection (CP) teams worldwide

4 Regiment RMP

The company is part of 4th Regiment, Royal Military Police—which is a hybrid Army Reserve and Regular Army unit. The regimental headquarters is located at Mellor House, Buller Barracks, Aldershot Garrison.

On completion of basic (Phase 1- Soldiering) and trade (Phase 2 - Military Police) training soldiers join the unit as a junior Non Commissioned Officer and complete a range of Basic Close Combat Skills and policing training.
