The 2016 Egypt Cup (also known as Obour Land Egypt Cup for sponsorship reasons)[1] was the 84th season of the Egypt Cup since its establishment in 1921. Since Zamalek won the Cup and qualified for African competition based on league position, the spot awarded to the Cup winner (Confederation Cup) was passed to the fourth-placed team which were the next best teams in the table not already qualified for any African competition.

Zamalek were the defending champions, having defeated their rivals Al Ahly in the previous final. Zamalek successfully defended their title after they defeated Al Ahly 3–1 in the final

The final took place on 8 August 2016 at Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria. Zamalek were the "home" team (for administrative purposes), as they played the first semi-final match.
