The 1992–93 Miami Heat season is the 5th season of the Miami Heat in the National Basketball Association (NBA).[1] Despite the addition of John Salley from the Detroit Pistons, the Heat got off to a sluggish start as they were bitten by the injury bug with Steve Smith missing the first 34 games of the season. With Smith back in the lineup, the Heat would win 18 of 30 games in February and March. However, they lost six of their final sevens games to finished fifth in the Atlantic Division with a 36–46 record. Rookie Harold Miner won the Slam Dunk Contest during the All-Star Weekend in Utah. Following the season, Kevin Edwards signed as a free agent with the New Jersey Nets.
