The 1931 Southern Conference Men's Basketball Tournament took place from February 27–March 3, 1931, at Municipal Auditorium in Atlanta, Georgia. The Maryland Terrapins won their first Southern Conference title, led by head coach Burton Shipley.[1]

Format

The top sixteen finishers of the conference's twenty-two members were eligible for the tournament. Teams were seeded based on conference winning percentage. The tournament used a preset bracket consisting of three rounds.
