Karaiby, wiek XVIII. Beztroskie, wręcz idylliczne, pirackie życie pełnego zawadiackiego wdzięku Kapitana Jacka Sparrowa (Johnny Depp), wali się w gruzy, gdy dosięga go ręka Nemesis w osobie przebiegłego i podstępnego Kapitana Barbossy (Geoffrey Rush), który ukradł wcześniej jego statek – Czarną Perłę. Barbossa atakuje miasto Port Royal i porywa córkę gubernatora, piękną Elizabeth (Keira Knightley). Pirates of the Caribbean is a sweeping action-adventure story set in an era when villainous pirates scavenged the Caribbean seas. This roller coaster tale teams a young man, Will Turner, with an unlikely ally in rogue pirate Jack Sparrow.
