12 czerwca 1993 roku plac Senate w Helsinkach był świadkiem historycznego wydarzenia - przed ponad 60 tysiącami widzów po raz pierwszy wystąpili razem: najpopularniejszy fiński zespół rockowy - Leningrad Cowboys- zespół Pieśni i Tańca Armii Czerwonej im. Aleksandrowa. Program koncertu zawierał klasykę rocka m.in. utwory reperturaru Roxy Music, Boba Dylana. Led Zeppelin, a także tradycyjne pieśni rosyjskie od kilkudziesięciu lat stanowiące podstawę repertuaru zespołu im. Aleksandrowa. Total Bałałajka Show stanowi filmowy zapis tego wydarzenia.

Total Balalaika Show is a 1994 film by director Aki Kaurismäki featuring a concert with the Leningrad Cowboys and the Alexandrov Red Army Ensemble.

The concert took place on 12 June 1993 on Senate Square in Helsinki, Finland. The event drew a crowd of 70,000 people from two nations - Finland and Russia - that had been engaged in a state of "peaceful coexistence" during the Cold War.

The concert featured an eclectic mix of Western rock and Russian folk music, including a balalaika rendition of Stairway to Heaven (not shown on DVD release of the film), and folk dancers performing to rock songs.
