Następnie założył grupę NUSKOOL (New Underground Systematically Killing Old Outdated Lyrics). W 1989 został członkiem legendarnej grupy z Los Angeles - Low Profile. Singiel "C U When U Get There" (na początku wydany na soundtrack do filmu "Nothing to Loose") nagrany z udzialem 40 Thevz stał się wielkim przebojem.

Coolio (Artis Ivey) was born in 1964 in California. He was growing up in Compton. In the age of 14 he was a founder of group called The Soundmasters. Then he was a founder of group called NUSKOOL (New Underground Systematically Killing Old Outdated Lyrics). In 1989 he became a member of a legendary group from Los Angeles called Low Profile. This single "C U When U Get There" ( in the begining edited on a soundtrack to the movie "Nothing to Loose" ) recorded with appearence of 40 Thevz became a great hit.
