Armin van Buuren pochodzi z muzycznej rodziny. Już od najmłodszych lat wskazywał pasję do muzyki. Przygodę z muzyką rozpoczął od tworzenia mixów na komputerze. Kiedy skończył 16 lat, dostał pierwszy sampler Akai S-01. Od 1995 roku grał w klubie studenckim obok Leiden University. W 1997 roku nakładem wytwórni Cyber Records ukazał się jego debiutancki singiel "Blue Fear". W 1999 roku założył własną wytwórnię Armind, przy okazji poznając Dave Lewis'a. W latach 2000-2001 roku nawiązał współpracę z Ferrym Corstenem i Tiesto z którymi nagrał tracki "Exhale i "Eternity". Od 2002 roku tworzy dla wytwórni Armada Music, której wraz z Maykelem Pironem jest założycielem. Ten sam rok przyniósł mu 5 miejsce na liście TOP 100 wg DJ Magazine. (Źródło)

Armin van Buuren chose to pursue his career as a professional musician despite the promise of a career in law in his native country of the Netherlands, where his law degree was completed in 2004. Armin started working as a DJ in a local night club called Nexus, finished high school in 1995 and went on to university to study medicine.[2] Meanwhile, he moved his studio equipment from his bedroom to a 'real' studio.[2] The first tracks he produced in his new studio were, among others, tracks like "Touch Me" and "Communication".[2] Van Buuren has been quoted as saying, "Don't be a prisoner of your own style."[2] He has described his musical style as "liberating, euphoric, uplifting, melodic and energetic." He hosts a weekly radio show A State of Trance. The show completed its 300th episode in May 2007, running for over 6 years. In October 2002, Van Buuren was voted Number 5 in the DJ Magazine 100 top DJs. The following year, he jumped up to the #3 spot, and held it strong for 3 years straight. His work left him on the #2 spot, just below Paul van Dyk in the 2006 polls. After waiting all those years, Armin has reached Number 1 by winning the 2007 DJ Mag Top 100. (Source)
