Key generation

  • SHA256("your input") = mnemonic
  • SHA256("your input") = password

  • The SHA-256 hash algorithm generates a unique hex string for each input. This hash is used for both the mnemonic and password.

    * Warning * - Most tezos wallet software will not allow a hash to be the mnemonic or the password, so wallets generated in this manner will only be able to be imported or recovered using the private key.

    This key generation is far less secure than using crypto secure random data, but in turn, this process provides private keys that are incredibly easy to recover from memory.

    Mnemonic, password, and address are computed in your browser, so it is possible to disable wifi before using. Input complexity should be treated like a password. For standard security, input should be at least 10 characters, contain at least one upper case character, and one special symbol.
