Mel Ponder

Mel Ponder is the incumbent mayor of Destin, Florida.[1] On August 30, 2016, he won a close and contentious five-way primary to become the Republican nominee to represent District 4 in the Florida House of Representatives.[2] Ponder is all but assured of election in November, due to his having no Democrat opponent. He will succeed State Representative Matt Gaetz, the Republican nominee for the Florida 1st District U.S. House seat.
