Jake DeBrusk (born October 17, 1996) is a Canadian professional ice hockey Left Wing. He is currently playing for the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League (AHL) as a prospect to the Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League (NHL). DeBrusk was drafted 14th overall by the Bruins in the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.[1]

Playing career

DeBrusk was selected in the 7th round by the Swift Current Broncos at the 2011 WHL Bantam Draft. During the 2014–15 WHL season he was rewarded for his outstanding play when he was selected to take part in the 2015 CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game.[2] Following the 2014–15 WHL season in which he scored 81 points in 72 games with the Swift Current Broncos, DeBrusk was ranked number 19 by the NHL Central Scouting Bureau on their list of North American Skaters eligible for the 2015 NHL Entry Draft.[3] Expected to be drafted late in the first round, the Boston Bruins picked DeBrusk 14th overall.[4]

During the 2015–16 season, DeBrusk was signed to a three-year entry-level contract with the Boston Bruins on November 12, 2015.[5] On December 26, 2015, DeBrusk was traded from the Swift Current Broncos to the Red Deer Rebels.[6]

Personal

Jake DeBrusk was drafted by the Boston Bruins in the 2015 Entry Draft in the first round, 14th overall. DeBrusk spent a majority of his junior career with the Swift Current Broncos (with Colby Cave) before being traded to the Red Deer Rebels in 2016 where he helped the Rebels to the Memorial Cup Semifinals. DeBrusk’s career high for points came in 2014-15 when he tallied 42-39-81 in 72 regular season games with the Broncos. DeBrusk played in the CHL/NHL Top Prospects Game in 2015. He is the son of former NHL player Louie DeBrusk who played 401 NHL games for the Edmonton Oilers, Tampa Bay Lightning, Phoenix Coyotes, and Chicago Blackhawks.
