Dick Chipperfield

Dick Chipperfield, Richard Chipperfield (September 21, 1904- March 3, 1988), was a circus animal trainer and circus owner, of the Chipperfield's Circus dynasty. Dick was born on September 21, 1904 in Banbury, Oxfordshire, England. Dick's father was Richard Chipperfield (April 8, 1875-May 8, 1959) of the Chipperfield's Circus. Dick's mother was Emily Maud Seaton (August 16, 1883 — October 9, 1974) Dick was born and raised in the Chipperfield's Circus. Dick married Myrtle Eileen Slee. Myrtle was born on February 7, 1921 in Okehampton, Devon, England. She passed away on September 17, 1995 in Chipping Norton, Oxfordshire, England. Myrtle worked in the Circus as a booking office manager starting in 1939. Myrtle and Dick had 4 children, two sons and two duaghters.[1][2] Dick has famous lion show he toured. [3]

Dick appeared as a "castaway" on the BBC Radio programme Desert Island Discs on 3 August 1964.[4]

He died on March 3, 1988 in Banbury, Oxfordshire, Englandin at the aged 83.
