The 2016–17 Pittsburgh Panthers men's basketball team represents the University of Pittsburgh during the 2016–17 NCAA Division I men's basketball season. The team plays its home games at the Petersen Events Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Panthers are led by first year head coach Kevin Stallings. They are members of the Atlantic Coast Conference.

Last season

The Panthers finished the season 21–12, 9–9 in ACC play to finish in a tie for ninth place. They defeated Syracuse in the second round of the ACC Tournament to advance to the quarterfinals where they lost to North Carolina. They received an at-large bid to the NCAA Tournament where, as a #10 seed, they lost in the first round to Wisconsin.
